18 Guides from Somerset North and Wiltshire enjoyed a Baden-Powell Challenge weekend in Bath. They started by making Carnival Lanterns from willow and tissue paper, Venitian masks and junk jewellery. Then came lunch and the shopping challenge – to buy ingredients and serving plates for their pudding. They also had to decide which take away they were going to eat in the evening! There was time to follow a trail around Bath, particularly interesting for those who hadn’t visited the city before. After the take aways and delicious puddings everybody watched the DVD “Mama Mia”. I think they entertained the whole of Walcot Street with the sing along version! On Sunday the girls caught the bus to Batheaston and walked to the church hall for archery in the grounds. Quite a few bull’s eyes were scored and all the balloons were popped. Next came Sunday lunch at the local pub, followed by a boat trip along the river, back into Bath, when they were lucky enough to get a good view of a kingfisher.
