Details of a FREE training course to mark Volunteers’ Week 2011

MINIBUS FIRE AND EVACUATION TRAINING COURSE
Friday 3rd June (am) & Saturday 4th June (pm)

Bristol Community Transport is offering free training on the safe evacuation of a minibus in case of a fire or other emergency. The free Minibus Fire and Evacuation Training Course is being provided on Friday 3rd June (morning) and running again on Saturday 4th June (afternoon) - during Volunteers’ Week.

The free training is available to those volunteering with organisations in and around Bristol. It is anticipated that the organisation will either already operate their own minibus(es), have occasional need to use minibuses operated by other organisations (and may or may not already hire from BCT) or be considering acquiring a minibus. Those taking advantage of the free training could include, for example, those that volunteer for youth groups, churches, groups for the elderly etc. You do not need to be a volunteer minibus driver to take the training, as the training is also of use to those responsible for the safe carriage of passengers (for example, other adults travelling in a minibus).

The training course is being run on:
Friday 3rd June - 9.30am to 11.00am
Saturday 4th June - 2.30pm to 4.00pm

We may offer additional training dates/times if there is sufficient demand.

Bob O'Connor, BCT's Driving and Training Manager explained "The Minibus Fire and Evacuation Course is aimed at all those responsible for the safe transport of people in minibuses. Whether the individual is the driver of the minibus or an adult accompanying the group in the back of the minibus, it is important that people know how to avoid a situation, and how to react in the unlikely event that one should occur."

The free training will include practical exercises in the emergency evacuation of a smoke-filled minibus.

The free training is being run to mark Volunteers’ Week, at BCT's offices/depot in Easton.
