I am pleased to enclose information about our annual camps for Guide & Scout groups for July/ August 2009. Kilfinane OEC is an approved Outdoor Education Centre and we would be very grateful if you could pass this information on to your members.

Kilfinane Outdoor Education Centre is situated in the rural town of Kilfinane, Co. Limerick is south west Ireland. We are approved by the Department of Education & Science and would be similar to Local Education Authority Outdoor Centres in the UK. We are a non- profit Outdoor Education Centre & similar to the ethos of Scouts & Guides our aim is to use adventure activities along with new and challenging outdoor experiences to provide opportunities for personal and group development. Our staff are experienced and qualified instructors and all our activities are operated in line with best practice and National Governing Body guidelines. We have quite a number of scout and guide groups who visit us each year and would like to get information about our courses out to the wider scouting community, so I'd be very grateful if you could pass the information on to as many units as possible.

Annual Camp Special  - 7 Day multi-activity programme                                                                                    €230 per person

Our annual camp special begins with arrival after lunch on Sunday with departure on Saturday after lunch. The price includes camping with full catering in our onsite dining room, 7 x 1/2 day adventure sports activities, bus transport for own leader led day trip and use of all specialist equipment. Our camping facilities include sheltered campsite area, toilet and shower block, sports hall, games room & campfire area. Kilfinane OEC is located in the rural town of Kilfinane, Co. Limerick and the centre is within walking distance of shops etc. We are located next to the Ballyhoura Hills which offer plenty of options for hiking, orienteering, bivouacking, campcraft etc. A residential option ( max 50 persons) is also available using our onsite accommodation. Accommodation is in comfortable hostel style rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Multi Activity Days - 1 Day Multi- activity programme with optional lunch                                     July €40 / August €35pp excl. lunch

Our multi-activity days give groups the chance to experience 2-3 exciting adventure activities. Groups can choose from Canoeing, Kayaking, Indoor Rockclimbing, Orienteering, Riverwalk, Hillwalking, Abseiling, Team Challenges and Mountain Biking ( age 15+). We can offer activities to suit all levels so if your group have some experience we can offer a more advanced programme

Skills Courses - Certified and informal training courses at skills and instructor level                                          Starting from €40 per person

Kilfinane OEC offer a range of adventure sports courses to suit all levels so whether your group want to learn to rockclimb, qualify as Kayaking Instructors, improve navigation or campcraft skills or simply try out Mountain Biking we can arrange a course for you. We offer a flexible training approach with courses ranging from 3 hours to five day skills courses. Kilfinane OEC can offer a range of National Governing Body certified training courses. Travelling to Kilfinane OEC - Kilfinane OEC is located only 50minutes from Shannon International Airport and about 80 minutes from Cork International Airport. We can arrange airport transfers for overseas groups or can collect your group from train or bus terminals for those travelling via Dublin.
