Sue's last blog - May 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Our first County Day for 18 months on 14th May was a great success and the start of a new era for Girlguiding Somerset North.  After five wonderful years as County Commissioner I officially handed over the role to our two new Joint County Commissioners, Karen Rees and Sue Betts.

In a short ceremony I presented Karen and Sue with their new Commissioner Badges and wished them every success as they start their new adventure. Both Karen and Sue have a great deal of experience in guiding and also in their professional lives which, I am sure, will help them take the County forward.

Thank you to everyone for making my last day as County Commissioner such a special occasion and for the presents too.  The Centenary Teddy and the three glass pieces will all be a wonderful reminder of my term of office and I shall enjoy spending the money that you so generously gave – probably on a camera.

I am pleased to announce that I have accepted a new role as Chair of the Region Finance and General Purposes Committee and very much look forward to this new guiding challenge.

It has been a great pleasure to be County Commissioner for Somerset North; I have enjoyed it immensely but especially meeting and working with you all.

Thank you so much for your help, support and friendship.

With all best wishes,

Sue Maybury
