Somerset North thank you
It was a pleasure to present awards and certificates to our leaders who have given many years of outstanding service at our recent Awards Evening. It was particularly good to see many Baden-Powell Guides support the event and receive congratulations from the County for their achievement. Two new Queen’s Guide Awards were presented; this is the highest award our young people can achieve.
I was pleased to present 30 Somerset North Centenary Thank You awards. Recipients were nominated by their Division for the considerable contribution they made to the Centenary celebrations in our County.
Girlguiding likes to take every opportunity to say thank you and present awards to our volunteer leaders. This was Somerset North’s first Awards Evening and it was a great success.
Two occasions this winter have given me a further opportunity to thank some of our leaders who worked exceptionally hard during the Centenary. We were invited guests of Girlguiding UK’s President, HRH Sophie, Countess of Wessex at St. James’ Palace in November and of Tessa Munt MP at the Houses of Parliament in February. Both occasions were wonderful way to celebrate our organisation.
My term as County Commissioner comes to an end on 14th May when Karen Rees and Sue Betts will take over as our first Joint County Commissioners. I wish them very best wishes in their new role and thank you all for your help, support and friendship over the last five years.
Sue Maybury
County Commissioner
