Girls from Bath Division went for a weekend in the New Forest. The weekend, which was aimed at girls in school years 5, 6 and 7, proved so popular that it was run in November and again in January!
The venue was Foxlease, and the focus was the WAGGGS Global Action Theme “together we can change the world” badge so the weekend had an international flavour.

The theme was chosen after two Leaders from Bath, Jenny and Rosie, went to Sangam in March 2011. While there they were encouraged to use the GAT badge syllabus with local units in England.
All the girls attending gained their silver badge after completing clauses such as making friendship bracelets and water filters. They learnt about poverty, hunger and education in third world countries by playing trading games and drawing cartoons.
Other activities included playing ‘Mosquito tag’, making a re-hydration solution (and tasting it!) and drawing posters about the dangers of smoking and drinking for pregnant women.
The menu was also international, with European or American breakfast, Indian lunch and Greek supper. All the girls were encouraged to try everything.
It wasn’t all hard work and the girls tried various adventurous activities during the weekend. They could choose between abseiling, archery, crate stacking, tree climbing and zip wire on Saturday and on Sunday everybody tried tunnelling.
