Hello, I’m Jenny Phillips and my role is to look after current participants of the Award, helping with any queries or problems they may encounter whilst working towards their Award.  I also register new participants at all levels who would like to take part in the award scheme through Girlguiding.  Please contact me if you would like an application form or alternatively download it from this site.

I am also available to come and give talks to Senior Section units about the Award scheme itself and what it’s all about.  If you would like me to come along to your unit please do not hesitate to contact me either by email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. What IS the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is a nationally recognised award aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 25.  The Award celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2006.

Which Level do I start on?

There are 3 Awards you can work towards:

Bronze (age 14+)

Silver (from age 15+)

Gold (16+)

For each Award, you must complete each of the 4 sections:

Skill

Service

Physical Recreation

Expedition

Residential – Gold Award Only

Leaflets containing information and activities for the different sections are available to you upon request.

Expedition Groups

For many participants this is the most difficult part of the Award to complete as it is sometimes difficult to know where there are expedition groups.  If this situation sounds familiar, please contact me and I will endeavour to find a group for you to join.  Alternatively, if your school is running the Award, please feel free to join their expedition group if appropriate.
